Improve children's and family health in the Thies region of Senegal through ChildFund health programs.
Program Goal: Community health huts in the Thies region of Senegal will offer more comprehensive health services, including regular and constant referrals and follow-ups. The program hopes to improve awareness of services offered by health huts, and as a result, ensure more consistent patronage. Health huts will also reduce socio-cultural barriers inhibiting proper sanitary behavior.
Expected Results: The program will address major issues that affect children and families in Senegal, such as malaria, HIV/AIDS and illiteracy, by improving the services offered by local community health huts. Health huts will offer a variety of programs to improve lives of many living in poverty, including education, nutrition, health, and sanitation to foster the well being of families and to protect children.
